Julia Herbinger is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS in Bremen. Her research addresses fundamental questions in explainable machine learning, with a focus on understanding and unifying feature influence on model predictions at the local, regional, and global levels, leveraging foundational concepts such as functional decomposition and cooperative game theory. She obtained her PhD in interpretable machine learning from the Department of Statistics at LMU Munich. Since then, she has extended and deepened this line of research, including applications in health research such as survival analysis.
Julia Herbinger is at CAS upon the invitation of Dr. Giuseppe Casalicchio (CAS Researcher in Residence/LMU) during the summer semester 2026.
